Leadership in any sphere requires that special person to be at the front of the pack or group.   Every successful team will be at that pinnacle because of a leader who has shown a set of core skills along the way.   Some of these skills will vary from company leader to company leader but generally they will offer excellent business sense, purpose and strategic vision.  They are able to communicate clearly and on point, suggesting decisive action and an ability to change direction or step up as needed.  Although their leadership is essential, one of their skills is encouraging staff particpation through delegation and feedback.  They allow fostering of innovation and an ability to see the bigger picture.  They will also be able to show the way forward in building a strong ethical structure.

Let us break down some of these skills – strategic vision.  This essentially means being able to create a a compelling vision for the teams to work towards for that common goal – being able to communicate the ideas that make them irrestistible and workable.  That involves the next must have – the talent for communication and listening.  By offering clear, concise and unambiguous ideas to the teams which encourage constructive feedback and ideas.  There is automatically a means for any concerns of employees to be listened to and addressed.   This leads on to other critical skills – adaptability and innovation.  In a very taught business area, a good leader will be able to take on board other ideas or just see a change is necessary to the original strategic plan and be confident in delivering innovative change of direction.
